Cover and Conceal Review – The Makeup Revolution!

Makeup Revolution has taken the blogging world by storm since its 2014 launch, so I decided it was about time I saw what all the fuss was about. I have never really been able to afford to many expensive make up brands so when I heard a lot of good things about Makeup Revolution and how its ‘just as good as the professional brands’ I actually got quite excited and had to try it out!

I had been given lots of make up for Christmas but the one thing I was severely lacking was concealer so I decided to get the Makeup Revolution Ultra Cover and Conceal Palette, which is £6 both online and in Superdrug stores. You can get this 8 shade palette in three different shades; light, light-medium and medium-dark. I opted for the light palette as because I am a natural red head I am very pale and the yellow undertones of the shades are perfect.

I was like a little kid in a sweet shop when I went to buy my palette as I was absolutely in love with all of the products packaging. The black and gold outer packaging makes the brand look really professional and sleek, making it look more expensive than it actually is. The palette itself is black shiny plastic with the signature gold lettering, which looks great but I do find myself cleaning my finger prints off it every time I use it. I am dreading the day I get a scratch on it so it is definitely staying in the outer packaging!

When I first opened the palette it was a nice surprise to see a large mirror as to be honest for the price I paid I wasn’t expecting one! The 8 shades are all varied and I think it is a great selection, the shades are great for covering blemishes, the lighter shades in particular are great for under the eyes and I have even used the darker shades to contour on a few occasions. I don’t think I would regularly use this palette to contour but I think it would be perfect for an over night stay somewhere if you don’t want to take absolutely everything with you!

When I first used the palette I used my fingers to apply, but I soon realised this was not the best choice as the concealers are actually quite oily compared to any others I have used. Since then I have been using my liquid foundation brush as it allows a smooth application and a much better coverage.

Judging by a few of the other reviews I read before I bought the Ultra Cover and Conceal palette I think a lot of people had written off this palette because of the oily concealers, however I think once I found a better way to apply it its a really great product that is definitely value for money. I am absolutely in love with this palette and would definitely recommend it, especially if like me you are are on a tight budget but still want high quality, dependable make up.

Having finally tried Makeup Revolution I can honestly say I was very impressed with the quality and as a result I spent hours online boxing day choosing what else I wanted to try, so don’t be surprised if a couple more reviews creep up over the next few weeks!
